Survey Says...

It feels like our vacation was ages ago, even though it's only been two weeks. It was interesting to hear the family's thoughts/memories after our last mega-road trip, so I thought I would poll the family again for their reviews of this one...

Which autographs are your favorites (top 3)?
J: Torii Hunter (Angels), Marlon Byrd (Cubs), and Dustin Ackley (Mariners)
M: Torii Hunter, Brett Jackson (Cubs), and Dustin Ackley
R: Same as the boys, but it was also fun seeing them get autographs from coaches who were players when I was a kid (and I still have some of their baseball cards, too!)
Me: Besides the players the boys already listed, Cubbies Reed Johnson, Joe Mather, and David Dejesus

Which stadium did you like the best? Why?
R: Hohokam, because it is the spring training home of the Cubs!
M: Peoria Sports Complex, because it is a really good place for getting autographs
J: Hohokam, because I got 2 baseballs there (one from the Rangers' bullpen, the other from a Cubs player at batting practice)
Me: Hohokam - sitting in the grass in the outfield, watching the Cubs play on a perfect day.

What was your favorite stadium food?
R / Me: Iowa breaded pork tenderloin sandwich at Peoria and Hohokam
J: $1 hot dogs at Camelback Ranch
M: Pretzel with cheese at all the stadiums we went to

What was the most memorable part of the trip?
Boys: The churro guy at Peoria Sports Complex. Churros! Churros!
J: Hail at the Angels/Dodgers game at Camelback Ranch
Me: Seeing a flash of blue streaking across the grass in front of me, trying to snag a ball that landed in the outfield berm. It took me a moment to realize that it was R doing his best to get it for the boys!
R: Bumping into our neighbors at the Angels/Dodger game, as well as seeing another family we know from home at Angels batting practice at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

What was the worst part?
J: The mean concession stand at Peoria Sports Complex. They kept skipping over me and serving other people first!
M: The hotel breakfast. And hail/freezing cold at the Angels/Dodgers game.
Me: Standing in the long, super-slow line for $1 hot dogs at Camelback Ranch
R: Sharing a bed with M!

What would you want to do again (or do differently) next time?
M: Go to Tonto National Monument, because I put the wrong sticker in my book and now need to get the right passport stamp next to it. (Yes, truly he is my son!)
R: Watch the Cubs and/or Angels play at other stadiums in the Cactus League
Me: Now that we know the "scoop" about where/when to get autographs, next time we could stake out better spots. Oh, and put on more sunscreen!
J: Go to a different concession stand. (He's not a bitter child, is he?!)

Comments/reviews about the "Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives" restaurants we checked out?
J: Over Easy had really good hot chocolate!
M: Joe's Farm Grill had a creepy bathroom. There were Barbies and G.I. Joes in display cases in the walls. It's like they were watching you pee. Oh, and Reese's pieces don't taste very good in pancakes (Over Easy).
R / Me: Both places had good food and what we ate was tasty, but we wouldn't necessarily find ourselves craving what we had or making a special effort to go back.
