Basketball Jones

We started off our day with the Portland Trailblazers and Phoenix Suns (Devin Booker, Tyler Ulis, Marquese Chriss, and Dragan Bender). Like Friday's Laker game, there was an abundance of Phoenix fans in the Cox Pavilion.

J specifically wanted to sit close to the section reserved for coaches/teams because he saw that players from upcoming games usually congregate there. He chose wisely. Fred Hoiberg, head coach of the Chicago Bulls, sat there during the Suns-Blazers game and obliged the boys' requests for autographs.

Good thing we came for the first game in Cox Pavilion because there was a long line of people waiting to enter and very few open seats for the second one, Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics.

M was wearing his Jimmy Butler jersey, which attracted the attention of one of the Summer League staff. He asked M to participate in the half-court shooting contest between quarters. Sadly, M couldn't, due to his injury, but J quickly put on his own jersey and took M's place.

The two of them even made it into the NBAtv broadcast of the game!

Our friends left the Bulls-Celtics game at half time to find seats for the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Los Angeles Lakers game in the Thomas & Mack Center. Because this was the match-up between the overall #1 pick Ben Simmons (Sixers) and #2 pick Brandon Ingram (Lakers), there was a lot of interest in this game. By the time we left the Bulls' game in the fourth quarter, the four of us could only find seats in the upper level. The game was pretty ugly for three and a half quarters, but the last part of the game more than made up for it - DAngelo Russell hit a three at the buzzer to win it for the Lakers. Exciting!

Afterwards, we tried to go to Container Park in downtown Vegas for dinner, but were turned away because minors are not permitted inside after 9:00PM. So we headed back towards Main Street Station via Fremont Street. Let's just say, it was truly an "experience". Eyes front, boys!
