Keep Portland Weird

Today was our last day in Portland. After breakfast this morning, we decided to walk over to Powell's City of Books. This bookstore is enormous - it takes up several floors on a whole city block!

Books galore!

From Powell's, we made our way back to Voodoo Doughnut to pick up some goodies for the ride home. Here's a better look at their selection...

Yep, that doughnut on the bottom shelf is definitely not G-rated.

We dropped off the dozen diabetes-inducing calorie bombs in our hotel room (yippee for late checkout!) and walked back over to Pine Street Market for lunch at Marukin Ramen.

Afterwards, we packed up, checked out, and drove over to Union Station to drop off R and J with our stuff, while M came back with me to return the rental car. Then he and I took the MAX light rail back to the train station.

We enjoyed our stay in Portland and would definitely want to visit again, especially because we didn't have enough time to check out any of the food carts! But to be honest, the city's significant homeless population was a little disconcerting, especially for our suburban-raised boys. The staff at the front desk were very careful to point out which streets to take when we asked for walking directions. But aside from one man who asked R for money a little aggressively, we didn't have any issues.

This sign on a building near Voodoo Doughnut just about sums it up...
