Bats and Horses

Put me in, Coach!
From Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP, we headed north to Louisville. Our next stop was the Louisville Slugger Museum. Many years ago, before basketball was king, the boys played a few seasons of Little League. And at the time, Uncle K talked about us all going to Louisville to check out the factory. So, it was especially fitting for us to visit now.

The factory tour and museum were both fun! R and I probably enjoyed it more than the boys did because we have a longer view of baseball history than they do.

Now that's a big bat!

After we finished up here, we still had enough time this afternoon to zip over to Churchill Downs for the last tour of the day at the Kentucky Derby Museum

With the recent Triple Crown win of American Pharoah, we were in good company with many other tourists.

The museum was well-worth the visit, with lots of interactive exhibits - always a bit hit with the family! In one area, they showed a loop of footage from this year's Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont races, which I hadn't seen on TV. And even though I knew American Pharoah won them all, it was still exciting to watch! We all agreed that the best part was the 360-degree high-def presentation, "The Greatest Race," about race day at the Kentucky Derby. It was even already updated with footage from this year's race!

A long, but fun day!
