Easter Sun-day

HE IS RISEN!

He is risen, indeed!

We celebrated Jesus' resurrection this Easter Sunday morning with Calvary Chapel Tucson. They held their service at the Tucson Convention Center, with special music by Steven Curtis Chapman. It was nice to be able to attend church while on vacation, but we missed our #smallchurchbigfamily!

We spent our very sunny afternoon at the Pima Air & Space Museum. They have the largest privately funded collection of aircraft in the country. We've also visited the two larger public museums: the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH (read that blog post here) and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum (but only the displays on the National Mall, not the Udvar-Hazy Center outside of DC).

We took the narrated tour, which was well worth the additional charge because it was on a tram with a roof (even in floppy hats, covering all that ground on foot would have been brutal), and our guide provided so much information! We all found it very fascinating!

Here are some photos of the ones I found interesting. For our friends who are serving/have served in the military and those of you who love aviation, please feel free to leave a comment to help me identify these aircraft - I'm sure I didn't get all of the details right.

Super Guppy (but I think it looks more like a whale)

From here, we continued east on I-10 to New Mexico. It's pretty much a barren and desolate landscape between Tucson and Lordsburg, but I enjoyed the drive. No opinions from the rest of the family as they were conked out. However, when the only restaurant in town the front desk will recommend is Denny's, you really are in the middle of nowhere. Picnic dinner in our hotel room instead!
