Up in the Air

After saying our goodbyes to RH and C this morning, we headed over to R's cousin's house for breakfast. The navigation app sent us on some small, local roads, but the drive through the forest was quite pretty. We had gotten to see Y, C, and the kids back in July at the family reunion, but it was nice to be together again, quick visit or not.

The Sea-Tac Airport had been in the news in mid-September for super long TSA lines that snaked through the parking garage, with up to 3-hour wait times. Not wanting to chance it even having TSA Pre-check, we decided to leave for the airport a little earlier than we normally would.

After filling up at the gas station and returning the rental car, we breezed through security (phew!) and waited at the gate for our flight. I had originally booked us on a direct flight to LAX, but United cancelled it a couple months ago and changed us to an itinerary that connected thru SFO instead.

Since the skies were clear and our seats were on the left side of the plane, we were treated to some great views of the volcanoes of the Cascade Range.

One of the perks of having kids living on the Westside is that they can be our Uber. We usually either do long-term parking or a one-way rental, but neither option was cost-effective for this trip. So, J picked us up from LAX and then we swung by M's apartment to grab him on the way to get dinner from Honey's Kettle in Culver City. Tasty fried chicken, but we would have saved ourselves a lot of time if we had ordered ahead because they were super busy.

Thanks to J for driving us all the way back home!
