It's been 30 years since our first-ever Las Vegas family reunion, and the 10th one is now officially in the books. A great time was had by all, as usual!

Since M and J are both gainfully employed with minimal time off, we picked them up from West LA after work Thursday afternoon for the drive to Vegas, with a stop at Freddy's in Victorville for dinner. Thankfully, traffic on I-15 was not too bad, so we arrived at the Cal before midnight, bumping into several cousins on the way up to our hotel room.
Friday morning the four of us headed over to the Fremont East District in Downtown Vegas for breakfast at PublicUs.
Clockwise: Crostada with strawberry jam, loco moco, Garden Farm Benedict, biscuits & gravy, and The Traditionalist with Portuguese sausage |
Next up, bowling at The Orleans...
We beat "Shanghai-ed" in time! |
Afterwards, we went back to the hotel and hung out with folks in the hospitality room for awhile. Because it was so hot outside, we couldn't bring ourselves to get back in the car to go anywhere for dinner, so we settled for Market Street Cafe in the Cal. You know it's really bad when the Odyssey throws an error message that the "camera is too hot"!
The activity for Saturday morning was a family blackjack tourney...
J is finally old enough to participate! |
The banquet yesterday was held upstairs in the ʻOhana Room. R's dad was so beloved by everyone in the family, so this was when we especially missed his presence. 😢

At the last reunion, R took selfies with his cousins, while this year he posed with his cousins' kids (1st cousins once-removed). The collages are arranged according to their grandparent's birth order in the family...
After the luncheon, the boys organized a group of their 2nd cousins and cousins once-removed to go to Atomic Golf, one of those multi-level driving ranges. So happy that they are forming close connections with the extended family!
We met everyone for brunch this morning at the Garden Court Buffet at Main Street Station. Three of us had played (in my case, *lost*) enough to each get it comped, while M scored two comps, so he treated R's oldest cousin, MJ.
Because Sunday traffic back to LA is notoriously bad, we checked out and hit the road as soon as we could after we finished eating, managing to avoid any issues until we got to the 405.
Can't wait until the next one!
