Independence Day

Happy Independence Day to all! Ours was pretty low-key, which was the perfect way to spend it, in my opinion. I'm sad that our mornings of not having to wake up to alarm clocks are coming to an end. But on the flip-side, that just means we're another day closer to home, right?!

The first order of business for the day was washing our filthy, bug-spattered minivan...

One of the boys' favorite places to go when we're here at my parents' in the summer is Splashdown in East Peoria. They have been looking forward to it ever since we left the indoor waterpark in Gillette, WY! Since the weather was good and it was open even on the holiday, R and my dad took the boys over there this afternoon. Sounded like they had a good time!

While they were gone, Mom and I looked through old pictures, matching up the locations from their photos to the ones I took (see the previous post). Then she took me over to Wal-Mart to stock up on groceries for our trip back.

Later on, we ran to Peoria for some errands and then dinner out. We saw everyone gathering on the riverfront for the fireworks show (still 3 hours away), but we pooped out of going back out again to watch. All we had to say to the boys was "mosquito attack" and they were easily convinced to stay home.

Helping PoPo in her garden, catching pesky Japanese beetles

One more day here in Morton, then it's back to life on the road again...
