Da Bulls

Starting with the 2nd family reunion in 1998, we have traditionally ended the weekend with Sunday brunch at the Garden Court Buffet at Main Street Station. Since there are limited venues where our big family can easily gather in one place, this is always a nice way to say our goodbyes until next time.

Afterwards, we checked R's dad out of his room, then drove him and R's cousin B to the airport for their flight back to Chicago. From there, the four of us went straight over to UNLV for a whole day of NBA Summer League games. Because we nearly froze to death in the arena last year, we came prepared with jackets and hoodies this time.

We sat through the first game in Cox Pavilion so that we could secure seats for the one that we really wanted to watch - Bulls vs. Knicks. During the second half of the Pacers-Kings game, the boys decided to move over to the other side so that they would have a better chance of ending up on camera.

For the Bulls game, we were joined by some of the Chicago cousins who are also big fans. Note that we're smiling in the pic because it was taken before the game started. Unfortunately, the Bulls did not play well and lost pretty handily. Boo!

Oh, and they did end up on TV, looking pretty sad/uninterested until they saw themselves on the big screen. Haha!

On our way over to Thomas & Mack, we spotted former Bulls guard Randy Brown, who was kind enough to take a picture with us.

We caught the tail end of the Wizards-Suns game, and then watched a great game between Golden State and San Antonio. The people-watching in the crowd was pretty good, too - Jerry West, Rod Thorn, and Steve Kerr!

Because M is starting his internship tomorrow, we booked him a plane ticket, so that we all wouldn't have to make the nightmare drive back to LA on a Sunday. He and I left the Warriors game early so that I could drop him off at the airport.

By the time I got back to Thomas & Mack, the Lakers were playing the Hornets, with Scottie Pippen in attendance to watch his namesake son.

We didn't stick around for the whole game - just long enough to watch LiAngelo Ball for a bit. Then R, J, and I left to meet R's college roomie G and his girls for dinner. Having had a good time last year, they arrived today to catch some Summer League action again over the next few days.

Heading home tomorrow...
